Supporting the Dutch NDE for the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism

2017
Expertise Climate

The UNFCCC Technology Mechanism facilitates technical support to developing countries through technology cooperation, in part through its implementation arm, the Climate Technology Center and Network (CTCN). Each country has a national designated entity (NDE) to coordinate its activity in this area.

In this project, SQ Consult supported RVO in the decision-making about establishing such an NDE in the Netherlands at RVO, through a market assessment of climate technology supply and demand, identification of support needs of clean tech suppliers in the Netherlands, an evaluation of the existing framework in the Netherlands and internationally and an evaluation of the work of the CTCN so far. This resulted in various options for the role of such an NDE in the Netherlands and recommendations for the decision-making at the funding Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
